The Latest from Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore

It’s been a great year for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Singapore, an organization Anthony S Casey is proud to be a part of.

Anthony would like to share the story of Raphael.

Raphael was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, but it hasn’t stopped him from being his hyper and active self.  When his Wish Granters discovered his dream about an awesome Nerf War Party, they dreamed up the best wish day ever.

With a lot of encouragement from Raphael’s class teacher and principal, his school hall into an Nerf War Boot Camp.

Complete with obstacle courses, camouflage netting and Nerf guns, the boot camp was actually one big surprise. During a phys. ed class, he was completely taken aback. He walked into the hall; instead of gym class, a nerf war party!

It wasn’t easy, either. The obstacles required jumping, crawling, balancing, throwing and marksmanship training with Nerf guns.

On his Wish Day, Raphael was escorted by a convoy of Land Rovers to his wish party venue. Outfitted in a soldier’s uniform tailored to his size and sporting a beret, Raphael looked very much the part of a soldier defending his country against the “red army”.  Thanks to his Wish Granters Christie, Jonathan and Hao Ren, Land Rover Singapore for the spectacular convoy, and the dozens of volunteers who made the Nerf war party a memorable one for Raphael to cherish.

Making Australian Wishes Come True for Singapore’s Children

Amber’s Story

Make-a-Wish Granters Eugene, Anthea & Arthur recently made one little girl’s dream come alive.

Amber is special. Unlike most children her age, she is not obsessed with Disney movies and characters like Ella from Frozen. Amber does not even watch that much television. What Amber does enjoy is the sheer wonder of spending time with animals. She follows her dog, a small Dachshund, all over the house. She loves “masak masak” – playing with toy kitchen tools and food, and also, drawing.

Amber’s wish was to venture to Australia. With a range of outdoor activities, it is the perfect destination to explore and make friends with farm animals.

To prepare for her trip, Amber asked to watch videos of airplanes on YouTube. She also excitedly went around announcing to others that she would be soon traveling to Australia.

She spent a leg of the trip in Brisbane. She experience a relaxing drive to a quaint farm. Here, she rode many ponies. She even got to help the farmer with his chickens! Much to her parents’ delight and amazement, Amber was quite a natural at catching chickens!

Amber visited Sea World at the Gold Coast and braved big, scary rides. She stayed at a huge apartment, where she loved its airy, beach view.

For the nature lover, this was truly a trip to remember.

Amber was referred to the Make-a-Wish Foundation by the Children’s Cancer Foundation at the National University Hospital (NUH).

Fundraising for Make a Wish Singapore

The Ngee Ann Business Studies Fundraiser recently combined their knack for business with passion for social change.

Instead of finalizing up their graduating year with merriment, they dedicated their efforts to something with purpose. They wanted to contribute to society.  By organizing the first ever Business Studies shirt sales, where all net earnings of $802 were donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, they helped grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The course-wide event brought the students closer as a team. Ultimately, it ignited a spirit of giving that will last through their entire careers.

2015 Dec: Make a Wish Foundation

Anthony is a proud sponsor of the Make a Wish Foundation. This month, Make a Wish sponsored one child’s “Pony Day Out.” Not only was little Arifah able to flaunt her very best ‘My Little Pony’ attire, but she also built her very own pony at Build-A-Bear Singapore. After registering the “birth” of her pony, Arifah received another surprise – she got to spend the rest of the day interacting with real ponies! She and her family participated in a guided tour of the stable, a pony grooming session, and exclusive pony rides. A ‘My Little Pony’ themed party was held in her honor, including exciting activities like face painting, a magic show, balloon sculpting, and a photo booth.

The Santa Run for Wishes and Annual Christmas Party happened this past November as well. Participants completed a 2KM or 5KM family-friendly fun-run along Palawan Beach accompanied by Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Tan Chuan-Ji. Runners were also invited to an exclusive evening at Universal Studios Singapore. That same night, 1,400 Wish Children and their families attended the Annual Christmas party at USS.

Upcoming events include the Drew & Napier Christmas Party and TANGS Christmas Fundraiser. For more details, be sure to check out the newsletter here.
